Mutual respect serves as the foundation of a healthy relationship.
It opens the doors of trust and safety, allowing the couple to express themselves honestly and openly. It assures both parties that their differences are recognized and accepted.
Unfortunately, some think a relationship without mutual respect can still last as long as there is love. Yeah, it might. However, it’s toxic and abusive.
Imagine arguing with your partner, and they invalidate your interests, values, and opinions. It would hurt so much.
Respect should never be one-sided. A couple should effectively exchange it. After all, a relationship should consist of two individuals working on improving their lives together.
