Taking space can be beneficial for both partners. In fact, giving someone some space is also an act of love and compassion.

Let’s say for example, when you’re having an argument with your partner. Keeping the conversation while you’re both angry will just keep the argument heated. You need some space to cool off your mind and regain self-awareness. It gives you time to think about your relationship and meditate on what needs to be done.

Another benefit of taking space is the fact that it gives you time to connect with other people outside of your relationships, particularly family and friends. Because healthy relationships do not just revolve around one person.

However, bear in mind that healthy space should last a couple of days or weeks. When it lasts longer than needed, it’s no longer beneficial to the relationship. It might even lead to couples falling out of love and growing apart.
